Maulana Zafar Abid was born and raised in Hyderabad, India. He began his Islamic education early, completing his Hifz (memorization of the Holy Quran) at the age of 10 in a Hifz institution in Hyderabad. He then pursued advanced studies in Islamic Sciences, Tafseer ul Quran, Hadith, Aqeedah, Islamic Law (Fiqh), and Islamic history at the renowned Jamiah Islamiah Talimuddin Dabhel in Gujarat, India.
After graduating in 1980, Maulana Zafar served as an Imam and taught Quran and Islamic studies in Hyderabad. He became the headmaster of Jamia Islamia Tajweedul Quran, overseeing various Islamic subjects.
In 1997, at the age of 28, Maulana Zafar was sponsored by Darul Uloom al Islamiyyah (Islamic Academy of Canada) to serve as the head-teacher in Edmonton, Alberta. He later moved the academy to Surrey, BC, where he served as principal until 2012. He then founded Darul Quran Academy, where he has since been the principal. Under his supervision, over 60 students have graduated as Huffaz, serving across North America.
Maulana Zafar has been a dedicated community servant in Canada for the past 25 years, primarily providing guidance to Hujaj in Urdu and Hindi as part of the Hajj From Canada team. He is a selfless scholar, preacher, and teacher with over 30 years of experience in teaching the Quran.
Maulana Zafar Abid is currently the founder and principal of Darul Quran Academy in Surrey, BC.
