Essential Hajj Packing Guide

Embarking on the sacred journey of Hajj is a profound experience, and at Falcon Travel, we understand the importance of being well-prepared. To ensure that pilgrims can focus on their spiritual journey without any hindrances, we’ve meticulously curated the ultimate Hajj Recommended Packing List. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

(hard copy and better to save soft copy on your phone)

• Passport with validated hajj visa (Since the visa is electronic, please be sure you have a copy of it with the passport – It is also recommended you take a picture with your phone of your visa).
• Electronic airline ticket – (e-tickets will be provided by Nusuk).
• Proof of immunization (immunization card / record) for meningitis ACYW135 and COVID19.
• As needed, spending cash (USD or CAD – new & large bills $50/$100 denomination recommended).
• For those approved for Double and Triple upgrade, have the amount in USD in a special envelop as it will be collected from you upon arrival to your first hotel.
• Luggage tags attached to all bags and/or personal tags with your name, Canadian contact info, your hotel name in Makkah or in Madinah (The first hotel you will arrive to).

IHRAM & ACCESSORIES

• Ihram garment (For those going on Package 4 – Makkah first. For the rest of the packages, you can buy it in Madinah).
• Minimum 1 pair of comfortable slippers / sandals
• Belt to tie ihram/safety pins (sharp objects must not be kept in carry on due to security)
• Suitable money belt (can be used to tie ihram)
• Small Qur’an, prayer mat, travel pillow

PERSONAL NEEDS

• Toothpaste, toothbrush/ Miswak, Q-Tips.
• Unscented deodorant/soap/shampoo/shower gel (to be used while in a state of ihram).
• Unscented hand cleaner/Kleenex/toilet paper (to be used while in a state of ihram).
• Nail clipper, scissors, comb/brush.
• Bath/hand/face towels, door hooks to hang clothes in toilets during stay in Mena/Arafat.
• Light jacket, socks, underwear, Thoab/Shalwar Khameez, pants, t-shirts, comfortable walking shoes

CAMPING KIT

(specifically for Muzdalifah)

• Sleeping bag – lightweight (Usually the Ministry of Hajj provides one in Muzdalifah but just in case. Please don’t buy anything expensive, get the cheapest you can find as most of the Hujaj throw them after the night of Muzdalifah).
• Small/thin pillow or traveler’s pillow.
• Handbag/knapsack or carry-on bag.
• Sunglasses, preferably with neck strap (if you wear prescription glasses, walk with a spare one).

HEALTH / MEDICAL KIT

• First Aid Kit:
  o Strip bandages, antibiotic ointment, rubbing alcohol, etc.
  o General medicine/needs (readily available in Saudi Arabia): Gravol, if you are prone to air.
• Mouthwash (non-alcoholic) if required
• Lozenges for throat infection; cough drops/lozenges
• Vaseline (petroleum jelly)
• Anti-fungal cream – check with pharmacist to find alcohol-free (especially important for brothers while in ihram)
• Diarrhea medication (immodium); antacid (pepto bismal)
• Suitable antibiotics (as prescribed by your doctor)
• Face mask(s) – take at least 10 so that you can change into new one if needed

IMPORTANT

• Travel with sufficient medication that you are normally required to take for the time in Saudi. May be get extra prescription from your doctor in case you lose your medication. Don’t place prescribed medication in the checked in luggage, always in your handbag.
• Seek advice from physician for special care in hot weather if you have any medical condition, i.e. diabetes, asthma, heart condition, blood pressure, etc..
• If allergic to specific drugs and/or you have a medical condition, please wear “medicalert” bracelet.
• For Sisters: special outfits for hajj & Umrah, Jalabiyas, hijabs, hygienic products, etc.. (also readily available in Saudi Arabia).

Note: The following items are gathered from many years of experience. Truly they aren’t mandatory, but surely, they make the Hujaj experience easier.

First Item | The Ihram for the Brothers

The Ihram we recommend is 100% Cotton, preferably Velcro or with buttons. It makes the experience of wearing, staying, sleeping, making Wudu’ in the Ihram easier than the regular Ihram.

Look at the picture, it shows the Velcro Ihram. If you can’t find it here in Canada, no worries. It is available in Saudi. If you can’t find it in Saudi, no worries at all, any cotton Ihram will do.

Second Item | Pink Hijab for the Sisters

If it is up to us, we would make this item mandatory out of all the items. It is true that sisters can wear anything and any color. But when we go to the Haram for Umrah, or Tawaf Al-Ifadah or when we go to Jamarat; If all the sisters in the group are wearing Pink Hijab, it makes it easy to spot any sister that is delayed from the group or lost.

We are sure all the sisters must already have a pink Hijab, if not please buy it, it is for your own safety.

Third Item | Hajj Fan and Mist Umbrella

This item won’t be found in Canada. However, it is available in Saudi Arabia if they don’t run out of stock. Basically, it is a specific Umbrella that protects from the sun. It also has a fan and the ability to spray water.

It is very useful specially when Hujaj travel between the camp in Mina and the Jamarat for 4 KM in a high temperature and between the big crowed.

It uses battery, so you don’t have to worry about charging it. It comes with the bottle of water, all you have to do is to fill it with cold water, and you are good to go.

If you can’t find it in Saudi, just buy a water spray bottle, and carry it with you. If it gets too hot, spray your face.

Fourth Item | Hajj Backpack

This item will be used when you go to Mina/Arafat/Muzdalifah camps. So, it should fit all your cloth, medicine and belongings. You shouldn’t take your regular handbag with you as anything with wheels doesn’t fit the 5 days of Hajj.

The spaces in the camps are very limited. So please be sure to have a backpack on you. Something durable and the same size as your regular handbag.

Fifth Item | Cold/Hot Thermos Water Bottle

This item is better bought from Canada. This bottle keeps the temperature whether it is hot or cold. A lot of products out there keep the hot temperature only. You want to be sure you get the “Hot or Cold Insulated”.

For those who use amazon to shop. Visit amazon.ca and search for “hot and cold insulated thermos water bottle”. You will find all sizes and shapes. They are not expensive.
